Riverside Creek |
Poised serenely along the north bank of the mighty McKenzie, this is the perfect mix of luxury and rustic comfort. The custom home features it’s own waterfall spilling under a foot bridge and a deck which actually extends over the rushing waters to provide a million dollar view and the most relaxing and enjoyable setting imaginable. From the cathedral dining area or the comfortable living room, you can enjoy the waterfall spilling from the creek which runs adjacent to the home, occasionally sporting beaver and other wildlife. Illuminate this feature at night, so you can marvel at its beauty far into the evening next to the wood burning fireplace. No imagination is necessary to find the magic in this special place.
The home itself is just under 3000 square feet. It features a large master bedroom suite which includes a sitting area with panoramic river views, dressing areas, ample drawers and closet space, and a bathroom featuring a separate shower and Jacuzzi tub (which, of course, also boasts a river view). The second bedroom has it’s own attached full bathroom with tub and shower (Don’t worry, there are 2 large water heaters providing ample hot water to meet the needs of even large groups). The log cabin great room is a perfect area for recreation, and features a second story loft which serves as a third bedroom. This loft also features a private deck with spectacular river views. The great room holds a free standing antique style wood stove and carries an enormous piece of driftwood as decoration which is a marvel in itself. Among other features, the kitchen features a large Sub Zero refrigerator, right next to the large Sub Zero freezer, each unit about the size of a standard refrigerator/freezer. Plates, cups, cookware, utensils and appliances are provided.
A great grey heron frequents his feeding ground just offshore, searching among the shallower pools for the plentiful fish in the crystal clear and ice cold waters. The McKenzie is also the home of a variety of natural hot springs, where one can relax and grow pleasantly limp in the steaming pools. Whether at the developed pools of Belknap Springs or at one of the public hot springs such as Cougar or Deer Creek, these woodland spas are an easy and short drive any time of year.
The location is ideal, situated about half way between Bend and Eugene on the outskirts of McKenzie Bridge. This is a small, peaceful and friendly mountain community surrounded by lush forests and natural beauty. The retreat is situated about 2 miles off the highway on North Bank Road, which is paved and a scenic pleasure (on a clear day, you will catch glimpses of the Three Sisters through the tall branches). The homes setting is free of traffic noise and visuals that plague so many river properties and ruin the experience: There is just the river to fill your senses.
Recreational opportunities abound, from golf at famous Tokatee Golf Club, to miles upon miles of trails for hiking or mountain bike riding. Challenge the unending rapids of the McKenzie by raft or kayak, or bask in the solemn meditation of flying fishing in waters that are world renowned.
